THE TAKEAWAY

A development announcement is not a market already open to investors.

A different route into onchain markets

Uniswap Labs reports that SMBC Nikko and Nethermind are building DeFi Gateway for Japanese investors. The proposed venue combines customised liquidity pools with a system for supplying them with assets. Base and Nyx Foundation are also supporting development.

Rules inside the pool

The design uses Uniswap v4 hooks to apply anti-money-laundering, counter-terrorist-financing and investor-protection checks. Planned coverage includes stablecoins, tokenised real-world assets and other digital assets. The announcement also describes future AI-assisted vaults and onboarding interfaces.

The next milestone

Completion is targeted for mid-2027. CoinNewsAtlas’s reading is that the important test will be a working venue with published eligibility rules and operational evidence. A development collaboration does not establish completed regulatory approval, public access or customer adoption.
